CMLL has vacated the CMLL World Women’s Tag Team Championship due to Tessa Blanchard‘s departure.
CMLL announced the news at a press conference on December 13. New champions will be crowned in an eliminator in 2025. Further details were not immediately provided.
Tessa Blanchard and Lluvia won the titles at the CMLL event on August 6. They defeated Persephone and Zeuxis in the finals of a tournament for the vacant titles. The titles were previously vacated when Stephanie Vaquer left CMLL and signed with WWE.
Update On Tessa Blanchard Returning To TNA
CMLL vacated the titles due to Tessa Blanchard leaving the company. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that it was believed that Blanchard was heading back to TNA in the near future. The Wrestling Observer also reported the news.
Per Sapp, the news of Blanchard’s return had been “kept away from the entire roster”, and even many of the staff. This was said to be done intentionally due to fear of backlash. The report also notes that the plan has been in motion for at least the last two weeks. Per Sapp, Blanchard is set to be involved by January.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
