Trish Stratus reveals she doesn’t remember her controversial moment at Payback 2023.
At the event, the WWE Hall of Famer did battle with Becky Lynch inside a steel cage. The match was very well received and was one of the best women’s matches in the WWE that year.
However, as she was making her entrance into the cage, Trish Stratus had a small altercation with a fan. The fan was shouting at the former Women’s Champion, saying she was going to lose to Becky Lynch. Trish Stratus walked straight up to him and told him to “Shut the f*ck up”, before getting on with the match.
Speaking with Ring the Belle, Trish Stratus claimed she wasn’t aware of what she’d done after the match, due to suffering a concussion inside the steel cage. She joked that she imitated Lita by doing so. When she got backstage and was told about the moment going viral, she wasn’t even aware she had been in a match, let alone sworn at a fan at ringside.
“That was Trish Status ‘the heel’. I honestly must have had an out-of-body experience. I’m so PR and level-headed” Trish Status said. “I don’t even throw it on my socials. I’m like ‘F***’. It’s her influence”. She said, referring to Lita, “Because my bestie has such a foul mouth, I had to bring a piece of her to the ring.”
“I remember hearing after the match like ‘oh, that thing you did before the match went viral’. I was like ‘What thing?’. First of all, I was concussed. What match? But really, I was so ‘in the moment’ that I did not remember that moment. I saw it back, I was like ‘Guys, I did that? I really didn’t think I did that.'” Trish Stratus added.
