Stephen Amell: Road Dogg Told Me ‘Red = Green’ In Wrestling

Stephen Amell reveals the words of wisdom Road Dogg gave him during his time with WWE.

The Heels star had a brief run in the WWE during the summer of 2015. He wrestled at Summerslam that year, teaming with Neville in a tag team match against Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes (as Stardust).

In the build-up to the match, Stephen Amell and Cody Rhodes had some physical confrontations in the ring. Before that, Road Dogg imparted his wisdom on the Hollywood star.

During an episode of Six Feet Under, The Undertaker joked with Stephen Amell about Meryl Streep appearing on Heels. He said that if she appeared she needed to get “color” by cutting her head and bleeding during the show.

This launched Stephen Amell into a story about his time in the WWE. He spoke about working with Cody Rhodes. Road Dogg told him it didn’t matter if he made Cody bleed. When questioning why, he simply told him “Red = Green”, meaning blood makes money.

“When I did my run-in with Cody, the thing I didn’t really understand at the time was the instructions they gave me. They told me, ‘All right, he’s going to come out, he’s going to face-wash you, you’re going to jump in the ring, form tackle him, get on top of him, and then try to rain down elbows and forearms. Don’t use your knuckles. we don’t want you breaking a knuckle or anything like that.’

“It was Road Dogg. He was our agent. He added, ‘Try to squeeze one through there—he’s a big boy, he can cover up.’ I was like, ‘Pardon?’ And he said, ‘Try to squeeze one through because if you get him and cut him, that’s good for us.’ I went, ‘What?’ And he just said, ‘Red equals green, big guy.'”

Amell also addressed the future of Heels on Netflix, noting that he believes there’s a “path” to a third season of the show.
