Janel Grant’s Legal Team Issues Statement On Stay In Vince McMahon Lawsuit Expiring

The stay in the civil lawsuit against Vince McMahon has expired, and Janel Grant‘s team has issued a statement.

In January 2024, Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, alleging emotional abuse, sexual assault, and trafficking. McMahon denied the allegations, but the suit was put on a six-month stay due to the Department of Justice’s investigation of McMahon. Now, the stay has expired, so Grant’s civil lawsuit will move forward.

Per B.J. Bethel, Janel Grant’s attorney Ann Callis released a statement about the stay on the case expiring and the civil suit moving forward.

“We are pleased that the prosecutors for the Southern District of New York have concluded that they can continue their criminal investigation while we bring forward new evidence in our civil case about the sexual exploitation carried out by Janel Grant’s abusers. For the last six months, Ms. Grant has patiently waited to hold Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE accountable for the sex trafficking and abuse she endured at the company on a near daily basis. Her wait is over, and we now look forward to sharing Ms. Grant’s story.

Bethel also wrote that sources said that federal prosecutors contacted Grant’s legal team and said that they would be allowing her civil suit to move forward. Additionally, Bethal stated that, per Callis, the federal criminal case was moving forward as well.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
