AEW Dynamite Results
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite kicks off with tag team action as Jon Moxley and PAC of The Death Riders take on Jay White and Orange Cassidy.
Jon Moxley and PAC (w/ Marina Shafir and Wheeler Yuta) vs. Orange Cassidy and Jay White
- The finish of the match saw Orange Cassidy moments away from defeating Jon Moxley when Hangman Page hit the ring and started attacking Jon Moxley, which led to a disqualification.
Winners: The Death Riders (via DQ)
After the match, Hangman Page, Jay White, and Orange Cassidy all brawled with one another and all three men were left lying in the ring. The Death Riders returned to the ring and finished a beatdown of their own before leaving through the crowd.
Grade: B+
Up until the finish this was a pay-per-view quality tag team match. All four men beat the tar out of each other and the story was told that under the right circumstances, Cassidy still has Moxley’s number. If not for Hangman he likely would have pinned him tonight. The four-way at Worlds End later this month should be excellent.
Bandido returns to AEW soon
Another vignette airs for the returning Bandido. These videos are surprisingly unique and definitely outside the box of what you’d normally see from AEW. Very entertaining stuff.
The Death Riders are backstage and Jon Moxley is happy about everyone coming for him and says it’s the only way to live. Moxley says everyone wants the next title shot because egos run All Elite Wrestling. Moxley confirms the fatal four-way for the AEW World Championship at Worlds End.
Christian Cage cuts a promo from his luxury box and complains about everyone getting a title shot at AEW Worlds End. Cage threatens Moxley that if he retains at Worlds End he’ll be coming after him and make him want to return to drinking again. HOOK breaks into Cage’s luxury box and utterly destroys him. Kip Sabian and Nick Wayne eventually return but HOOK gets away before they can really do anything to him.
Continental Classic Gold League: Will Ospreay vs. Claudio Castagnoli
- The finish of the match saw Will Ospreay catch Claudio Castagnoli in a jackknife pin to score the victory.
Winner: Will Ospreay
After the match, Claudio Castagnoli has a temper tantrum and hits Ospreay with the Neutralizer. Castagnoli goes to grab a chair but Darby Allin hits the ring and Castagnoli escapes through the crowd. Allin and Ospreay stare each other down and nod in a show of respect.
Grade: A-
This was a great match. I would have preferred a more definitive win for Ospreay, but it is what it is. I’m also happy Claudio’s lariat was kicked out of. I never want to see him win another match with that maneuver.
More Continental Classic action later tonight on AEW Dynamite
Ricochet is backstage with Renee Paquette. Ricochet hypes up his match against Brody King in the Continental Classic later on tonight.
We cut to the parking lot and see MJF arrive at the venue. It’s clear to me we’ll see him get involved in tonight’s match between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly. The winner is scheduled to face MJF for the Dynamite Diamond Ring at Worlds End.
Renee Paquette is backstage with Matt Cardona. Cardona says he belongs in AEW and he’s been busting his ass for the past five years reinventing himself and he has the biggest match of his career now against Chris Jericho at Final Battle. Cardona challenges Bryan Keith to a match this Friday night on Rampage.
Adam Cole vs. Kyle O’Reilly
- The finish of the match saw MJF try to interfere but ate a superkick from Adam Cole. Cole gets Kyle O’Reilly in a small package to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Adam Cole
MJF stares down Cole from the crowd after the match before leaving. The Kingdom comes out to congratulate Cole, but O’Reilly leaves the ring without shaking Cole’s hand.
Grade: B+
These two had a really good match, but the crowd didn’t seem to care during parts of it. Sometimes they were up, but mostly they were down. I can’t help but wonder if they were just waiting for MJF to appear after showing him on the Tron earlier. Who knows… What we do know is that Cole will now face MJF later this month at Worlds End.
Keep refreshing throughout the evening for live coverage of tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
