Trish Stratus talks Mercedes Moné.
Outside of the Royal Rumble, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has faced all of WWE’s Four Horsewomen, except Sasha Banks, now known as AEW’s Mercedes Moné. During a recent interview with Rick Ucchino for The Takedown On SI, Stratus addressed the void of her wrestling Moné, both in singles and tag competition.
“I think it didn’t come because I really think people never thought I’d ever come back for another match,” Stratus said. “Like after the Royal Rumble, it was enough. It was a little sizzle real, so to speak, of Trish Stratus and Stratusfaction, which is like not easy to pull off but like ‘Alright, you still got it,’ whatever. But to think of like can she come back after how many years and do a match, 17 years after my retirement or whatever the crazy number is, which is wild, but then [Moné] left [WWE].”
When asked about the possibility of facing Moné outside of WWE, Stratus noted that she was loyal to the company “all the way.”
“I really am WWE girl all the way, I am, but you never know. Who knows?” Stratus added. “There’s so much more life to be had.”
More than two years after exiting WWE, Mercedes Moné now finds herself a double titleholder, specifically with the AEW TBS Championship and NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship. Meanwhile, Stratus will soon reach the 25-year anniversary of her pro wrestling debut, with a corresponding appearance likely to unfold on WWE television.
