Mariah May wants more for the AEW Women’s Division and intends to prove it at Winter is Coming against Mina Shirakawa.
All Elite Wrestling Women’s World Champion Mariah May recently sat down with Renee Paquette for AEW Close-Up. When asked what we can expect from a title defense against someone she knows so well in Mina Shirakawa, May said we can expect the best match on the card.
“It’s true. I know Mina well, and clearly, Mina knows me very well too,” Mariah May admitted. “We’ve only had one singles match, and I won. It’s the second time we’ve met in the ring. But Mina and I were Tag Champions.
“Mina and I were top merch sellers in STARDOM. Mina and I were everybody’s favorite tag team, and we could still be that. We just have to do this first. You can expect what you can always expect from me in a title defense, which is the best match on the card.”
Why did Mariah May break a champagne bottle over Mina Shirakawa’s head?
When asked how she expects to be able to go back to how things were after breaking a champagne bottle over her head, May said she did it to get the best out of Shirakawa just like she’s done with others in the past.
“Because that is how I get the best Mina, I got the best Willow, the best Toni Storm, this is what I do,” Mariah May said. “I bring out the best in people because I don’t faff around, I don’t play nice, I don’t do women’s wrestling and cry and hug after a match. I want violence, I want the best match on the card, and I want to prove that women deserve more than five minutes on Dynamite.”
