Thunder Rosa Says Missing Time Due To Injury Was Chance To Rediscover Herself

One of the pillars of the AEW Women’s Division is former Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa. Back in 2022, La Mera Mera was forced to relinquish her World Title as she suffered a back injury and her return was uncertain. But a little over a year later, she returned to in-ring action.

After the AEW All In Texas Countdown show, Thunder Rosa was interviewed by Denise Salcedo. During the interview, Rosa shared that her return has been more of a rediscovery of herself, both professionally and personally. Rosa thanked Rachel Ellering, Nyla Rose, and Alicia Atout for their constant support over this past year. Rosa got the opportunity to build a strong bond with the women’s roster.

“It’s been a rediscovery as a professional wrestler and also as a person, as Melissa Cervantes of what is important to me. What I want to leave as a legacy when I’m done with wrestling and also my role in the Women’s Division and AEW. And definitely working Saturdays has allowed me to really reinvent, try new stuff, and reach out to everybody that works on ROH and Collision. And just create this strong bonds with a lot of the girls in the back. I will have to say… Shout out to Rachel Ellering, Nyla [Rose], my sis Alicia Atout, I love you guys. They’ve been a rock.”

Thunder Rosa thanks Deonna Purrazzo for bringing back the fire in her

The former AEW Women’s World Champion gave a special shout-out to Deonna Purrazzo for motivating her and helping her in bringing back the fire in a babyface Thunder Rosa.

“I want to thank Deonna Purrazzo for really bringing that fire back from Babyface Thunder Rosa. She was really important for me this year. For me to become who I became, and it really… She challenged me a lot in terms of becoming a better babyface. So, I want to thank that and I just want to thank everybody.”

Rosa also shared her interest in working a lot more with Taya Valkyrie.

“I got the opportunity to work with another member of the Vendetta. So… Before they were the Vendetta, Taya Valkyrie which is a wonderful talent that I would love to have a feud with her. I think there’s a lot that we could do and they haven’t tapped in. We have a lot of history and I would love to work with her. She’s not only great in the ring but she’s great in the mic. And she brings something, like she brings all that fire of me. And I love working with those kinds of opponents. So, I feel like our women’s division is very very strong. And when we go and we’re booked in the right way, we create magic,” Thunder Rosa said.
