D-Von Dudley Didn’t Think His Sons Were Used Correctly In AEW, Told Them To Be Patient

D-Von Dudley didn’t like how his sons were used during their time in AEW.

Despite previously professing that he was glad they signed for AEW over WWE, the WWE Hall of Famer has not decided that he didn’t like Terrence and Terrell Hughes

The pair wrestled twelve matches for AEW between 2020 and 2022. However, these appearances all came on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation and never on the major TV shows.

D-Von Dudley recently spoke with Women’s Talk Wrestling about how he felt about his son’s run in AEW. He revealed he didn’t like their “little stint in AEW”, and bemoaned how Tony Khan used them in the promotion. He added that he was happy to see them leave AEW.

“I tell them they got to be patient. You know, they had a little stint in AEW, and it didn’t really go well for them there. Um, I didn’t like the little stint there either. Um, I didn’t think they were being used correctly or used at all.” D-Von Dudley said.

“Just like so many other talents in that company that’s not being used correctly. But, you know, I just wanted them to get out. I wanted them to go to NXT, try to get their feet wet there, and that’s what we’re doing right now with them.”

“So it’s one of those things where I was happy that they were able to leave that part of their life in their wrestling career and go start a new chapter. Um, they’re doing very, very well. You know, uh, they’re on the indies a lot, they are going overseas, they’re doing so much, so I’m very proud of them. And every once in a while, they like to bring the old man along with them,” D-Von added.
