JD McDonagh has taken to Twitter to brag about his reign as the World Tag Team Champion.
The Irishman currently holds the titles alongside his fellow countryman Finn Balor. The pair won the belts back in June from R-Truth and The Miz, becoming the third title reign for a Judgement Day duo in the WWE.
However, in their six-month reign, title defences have been infrequent. Fans have aired their concerns about JD McDonagh and Finn Balor’s lack of defences. They have only put the belts on the line twice in that time, against the New Day in September and the Viking Raiders in November.
Despite the criticism, JD McDonagh is enjoying being the champion.
JD McDonagh took to Twitter in the wake of DIY’s WWE Tag Team Championship victory on Raw. He commented that there have been four different champions on Raw while the Judgement Day held the tag belts on Smackdown, showing how impressive they were as a team.
He called it a “generational run” despite the fact that being the tag team champions has been largely an afterthought.
“There have been FOUR sets of WWE Tag Team Champions over on SmackDown since me and @FinnBalor won the World Tag Titles.” JD McDonagh said, before adding, “A generational run!!”
JD McDonagh Thinks Oba Femi Would Fit In Judgment Day
Judgment Day member JD McDonagh recently spoke with WWE – Die Woche, and he answered various questions.
In one highlight, he was asked to name the superstar that he would pick to join the stable for a WarGames match. He responded by naming NXT star Oba Femi. (H/t Andrew Thompson of POST Wrestling for the transcription)
“We need a badass (for an additional Judgment Day member in WarGames). Maybe Oba Femi from NXT,” he said. “Someone out of left field. Yeah. Somebody big. A big enforcer. I’d take him… He’s got swag, he’s got confidence, he can throw people around. I think he’d fit in. I’d take him… I wonder would he look good in purple?”
