Curtis Axel Comments On Why His Run As A WWE Producer Ended

Curtis Axel briefly returned to WWE in 2022, as he worked for the company as a producer, but this stint was short-lived. He has finally revealed what happened.

In April 2022, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that Joe Hennig, formerly known as Curtis Axel, worked the April 8 episode of WWE SmackDown as a producer. He later appeared on the May 30 episode of WWE RAW. However, Axel was released shortly thereafter.

Speaking with Monte & The Pharaoh, Curtis Axel was asked whether he still watches wrestling, and he noted that he was a producer.

“I still watch,” he said. “Dude, I was a producer up there. [Asked how that came about] Because you have a mind frame that control and know wrestling. That’s how you become it. A couple people [made it happen]. When I did that, that was interesting. I think I got brought in…Jason Jordan, the head producer.

Curtis Axel was then asked to comment on why he was only there for three months and why he left. He noted that his exit came when Vince McMahon was under investigation for a hush money pact he reached with a former employee who he allegedly had an affair with.

“No, I didn’t [leave],” he said. “The allegations against Vince and Johnny [Laurinaitis ]. So it was only part-time at the time. So they said, ‘Hey, we can’t afford…just chill back home,’ and just never got brought back up.”
