AEW Collision Results
Tonight’s episode of AEW Collision kicks off with Continental Classic action between Darby Allin and Komander in the Gold League.
Continental Classic Gold League: Darby Allin vs. Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes)
- The finish of the match saw Darby Allin lock Komander with a bridging trapped pin to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Darby Allin
Grade: A-
Wow! What a great way to kick off AEW Collision tonight. I admittingly wasn’t big on Komander being the one to replace Juice Robinson in this tournament, but I’m happy to be proven wrong. The man has had back-to-back bangers in the last 48 hours. That match ruled!
Powerhouse Hobbs is coming after the International Championship
Backstage Renee Paquette is with Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita. Powerhouse Hobbs interrupts and says he wants a title shot at Takeshita’s International Title. Callis starts trying to make excuses about why they can’t give him a title shot right now but says he deserves one. Hobbs grabs Don by the arm and demands that he get back to him.
International Women’s Cup Qualifier: Willow Nightingale vs. Serena Deeb
- The finish of the match saw Willow Nightingale hit Serena Deeb with the Babe with the Powerbomb to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Willow Nightingale
Willow Nightingale will now face Jamie Hayter next week on Collision to determine who advances to Wrestle Dynasty next month.
Grade: B
Fun match. Looking forward to Willow Nightingale and Jamie Hayter next week on Collision. I imagine that’s where we’ll see the return of Julia Hart and she’ll cost Hayter the match. Nightingale has a lot of history with both New Japan and CMLL, she belongs in that four-way at Wrestle Dynasty.
Thunder Rosa has her sights set on championship gold
Thunder Rosa is backstage with Renee Paquette. Rosa makes it clear she’s looking at both Mariah May and Mercedes Mone’s upcoming title defense. It looks like the former AEW Women’s World Champion is about to re-enter the title picture as we head into 2025.
The Death Riders come to the ring sans Claudio Castagnoli. Jon Moxley says there are a lot of people in AEW who don’t want to be a World Champion. Moxley runs down Jay White, Hangman Page, and Orange Cassidy. Mox says if Cassidy pisses him off one more time he’ll take him off the board for good.
Orange Cassidy comes out on the stage and makes his way to the ring. Cassidy says he can live without ever being the AEW World Champion, but what he can’t live with is Moxley as the AEW World Champion. Cassidy says he will do whatever it takes and he’s never going to stop until Moxley is not the AEW World Champion. Orange says the only way he stops is if Moxley kills him.
Marina Shafir hits him with the briefcase and they all beat Cassidy down. PAC and Wheeler Yuta carry Cassidy to the backstage area as the show goes to a commercial break.
FTR are backstage hyping up AEW Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen on January 1. They are interrupted by the Death Riders attacking Orange Cassidy backstage and FTR intervenes. Cash Wheeler has a steel pipe and the Death Riders back down. Moxley threatens FTR as they walk away.
Continental Classic Blue League: Kazuchika Okada vs. Kyle Fletcher
- The finish of the match saw Kyle Fletcher kick Kazuchika Okada low before hitting him with the sheer drop brainbuster to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Kyle Fletcher
Grade: A
WOW!!!! I did NOT see that coming! I thought for sure Okada was going to get his first win in the Continental Classic tonight. I’m honestly shocked. That was a great match and this tournament continues to be more intriguing with each passing match.
The Beast Mortos vs. Aaron Solo
- The finish of the match saw The Beast Mortos his Aaron Solo with a discus lariat to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: The Beast Mortos
Grade: N/A
This was just a quick squash match and a showcase for The Beast Mortos. This is vintage Tony Khan booking trying to put some shine on a man or woman they are having lose matches that matter. I guarantee you Okada will get his first win against Mortos next week on Collision.
Is Top Flight in trouble as a faction?
Backstage Top Flight, Action Andretti, Lio Rush, and Leila Grey are backstage with Renee Paquette. Grey reads Andretti and Rush the riot act for tossing Top Flight out of the battle royale on Dynamite. Rush and Andretti believe they should be the ones going after the tag titles. Grey says they will settle this in the ring.
Mina Shirakawa vs. Emi Sakura
- The finish of the match saw Mina Shirakawa hit Emi Sakura with a Slingblade from the top rope to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Mina Shirakawa
Thunder Rosa, who is watching from the front row applauds Shirakawa for the hard-fought win.
Grade: B-
The match was fine. There were a few moments that came across really awkward like the two women weren’t on the same page. That kinda took away from the match a bit. Overall, it was still enjoyable and a solid win for Shirakawa heading into her title shot on Wednesday.
A video package airs hyping the AEW Women’s World Title match between Mariah May and Mina Shirakawa at Dynamite: Winter is Coming this Wednesday.
It’s time… for the main event!
Continental Classic Blue League: Mark Briscoe vs. Daniel Garcia
- The finish of the match saw Mark Briscoe hit Daniel Garcia with the Cut Throat Driver to score the pinfall victory.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Grade: A-
Mark Briscoe celebrates his huge win as AEW Collision goes off the air.
AEW Collision Review:
I thought this was a very good show tonight. The GalaxyCon crowd was lively and it made for a very fun experience. We had two shocking results tonight in the Continental Classic and that always makes things better when you don’t see something like that coming. A fun show as we head into Winter is Coming next week.
Grade: B+
