Cody Rhodes revealed some of the pranks Randy Orton has pulled on him during their time on the road.
During the start of his career, Cody Rhodes traveled up and down the country with Randy Orton. The two formed a firm friendship, but that relationship was not without constant pranks on one another.
Speaking with Jazzys World TV on YouTube, Cody Rhodes revealed the pranks Randy Orton pulled on him. He recalled one where Orton had him hang his head out the car window after getting stitches in his head. The wind knocked the stitches out, causing the WWE Champion to bleed uncontrollably as Randy Orton laughed at him.
“I had stitches in my forehead—like eight cable stitches. It was really ugly stitching, and I was already feeling down about it. There were still kind of drops of blood running down past my eye. This was my first weekend on the road, and I remember Randy telling me I should ‘air it out.’ He goes, ‘Yeah, just roll down the window and get some air on that.’” Cody Rhodes said.
“So, we’re driving down the highway—relatively fast—I roll down the window, stick my head out, and of course, three of the eight stitches pop. I pull my head back in, and he’s just laughing hysterically. Meanwhile, I’m still bleeding down my forehead, all the way to the hotel, looking like a complete fool. We even stopped at a gas station, and I just looked like a total dummy.”
“But right out of the gate, he wanted to make it clear: I was cool, I could ride in the car—but he was free to mess with me at any point. This is the thing people don’t know about Randy. And I’ve said this before—I know it’s mushy, and he’s probably tired of hearing it—but as far as a mentor goes, when it came to TV, being at TV, the matches, the promos—he was outstanding.” Added Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes On Randy Orton Ripping A Urinal Out Of The Wall
Cody Rhodes recalled another funny Randy Orton story. He explained how Orton ripped a urinal off the wall in South Africa, leading to the WWE getting banned from the Nelson Mandela Hotel even to this day.
“He pulled the urinal out.” Cody Rhodes said. “He grabbed it and broke the plaster on the wall in the Nelson Mandela Hotel in South Africa—which, by the way, we’re not welcome back at anymore. He flooded the bottom level. It was shocking.”
“First, the strength it takes to do that is unbelievable. Second, at a certain point, you’ve broken it, and now you’re committing to pulling out piping and completely damaging this hotel. I don’t… I’m shocked he told you that story.”
For me, it was one of those moments where I stood there and thought, I don’t know if I have what it takes to be a wrestler. If this is what happens, I don’t know if I can do that. But yeah, he thought it was the funniest thing ever. He literally looked at me and said, ‘Hey, check this out, Code Man,’ and just started pulling. And, well… yep. We’re not welcome back at that hotel.” Cody Rhodes added.
