Alex Shelley reflects on The Motor City Machine Guns winning the WWE Tag Team Championship.
Within three matches of their long-awaited WWE debut, The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) won the WWE Tag Team Championship. They continue to hold the gold, and Shelley says it’s just starting to sink in.
In a tweet, Alex Shelley expressed his gratitude as he looked back on The Motor City Machine Guns’ run in AEW up to this point.
“I wanted to take a second and just express gratitude, much like I did about six weeks ago”.” Alex Shelley said. “It’s just now sinking in that Chris Sabin and I are WWE Tag Team Champions. Those are words I never really thought would come out of my mouth. Six years ago, I was out of wrestling completely. I was working in a hospital setting, I was finishing up clinical rotations. Those experiences in PT are what drove me back to pro wrestling.
“I realized, if I can wrestle, if I can use my body, I should because there’s people who would give anything and everything just to be able to walk across the street. But in addition to those experiences, which I’m grateful for, I wanted to express gratitude to all the people who have helped me along the way.”
Alex Shelley Says Thank You
Shelley went on to note that he and Sabin have translated themselves throughout multiple generations. He said that they had learned a lot of lessons along the way. Shelley also stated that they would continue to apply those lessons.
“I realized that Sabin and I are very fortunate. We were raised by a generation that no longer actively competes in pro wrestling. We’ve been able to translate our stories and our careers throughout multiple generations, and we’ve got all these amazing lessons under our belts. These things are borrowed.
“They were given to us, they were gifts, but were continuously applying them. I can promise you that we’re going to continue to do so because the WWE is the top of the mountain. The WWE Universe still needs to experience the Motor City Machine Guns in their entirety, and they will, in due time. But I just wanted to say thank you.”
Shelley and Sabin will defend their titles against The Street Profits on the December 6 episode of WWE SmackDown.
WrestleZone will have coverage of WWE SmackDown as it airs on December 6.
