Ethan Page is excited to get back on the road again.
Page spoke with WrestleZone ahead of NXT Deadline, which takes place at The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is just the latest “road trip” for the NXT brand, which also did recent events in Chicago, St. Louis and Philadelphia.
“I will say that when we were in St. Louis, that was one of my favorite venues. One, because I got to embarrass Sexyy Red, what a joke. But St. Louis was cool, that was intimate, I think 1,300 people or something like that,” Page said. “I honestly love buildings like that where people are just on top of each other, the atmosphere is just — we’re going to blow the roof off, that’s the kind of energy that was there in St. Louis.”
“[The energy] was there in the ECW Arena. But I’ve wrestled in that dump during so many stages of my career. I looked this up, the last time I wrestled, because when I wrestled Bubba Ray and Trick, I was [thinking back about who was in my last match there],” he added. “I looked it up and it was Sabu, RVD and Tommy Dreamer against me, Josh Alexander and Moose. So listen, I’ve done this ECW mumbo-jumbo in that building before, but it is that intimate setting.”
Ethan Page can’t wait to get back on the road
Page says he’s excited to get back to Minnesota because it’s a great region for pro wrestling. He knows it was once a strong territory, but still has a great independent scene too.
“I’m excited for Minnesota because I’ve wrestled for F1rst Wrestling in Minnesota and they’ve shown me how dedicated the Minnesota fans are. It used to be a really strong territory too, wrestling is a big part of Minnesota’s history. But I think the run that we’re on now and the talent we have going and the engagement with the fans, these venues are perfect. It’s the right amount of people coming to make the right amount of noise, the right atmosphere.”
Page said he’ll make sure to entertain everyone that he can, and getting to see his friends around the country is nice, too. However, seeing more of the NXT Universe is also nice because the roster gets to see fans who aren’t used to seeing them live on a weekly basis like in Orlando.
“And I’m happy we’re on the road because I want to see what people feel from watching the show. Doing the show in Orlando every single week, you almost become familiar with the faces you see in the audience. So it’s great to hit the road and get the reactions of people that have just been watching on television for however long they’ve been watching. It’s awesome to get their response and for them to let out what they’ve been feeling after watching our show.”
NXT Deadline is Saturday, December 7 at The Armory in Minneapolis.
