The split of The New Day Monday night on WWE RAW was reportedly months in the making.
During the 10-year celebration for The New Day this week on RAW, Big E made his long-awaited return. The former WWE Champion offered to manage Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods until he was cleared to end the bickering between them.
However, this resulted in Woods and Kingston both turning heel on E and forming a stronger bond moving forward. While Kingston’s turn seemed sudden, this was reportedly the plan for quite some time.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the turn on Big E was the plan for months now and was originally supposed to include Odyssey Jones. The initial plan would have reportedly seen Kingston and Woods publicly choose Jones over Big E, but his firing obviously altered plans.
A recent report has suggested that no injury time was added to Big E’s contract. E signed a five-year deal with the company back in 2019. It’s currently unknown if a new deal has been signed.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more on Big E’s WWE future as it becomes available.
