Dabba-Kato has made his debut for MLW One-Shot last night.
The former WWE star went by many names on the main roster and NXT between 2016 and 2023. He was known as Babtunde, Comander Azeez and Dabbo-Kato during an eclectic career in the WWE.
However, the giant Dabba-Kato was released back in 2023, ending seven years in the company. He went straight to work on the indie scene, wrestling mainly for Juggalo Championship Wrestling in 2024.
Dabba-Kato has recently made his debut for MLW as he looks to get his career back on track. He wrestled his first match for the promotion at the recent Eric Bischoff One Shot event at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York.
At the event, he wrestled against Mads Krule Krügger, an MLW regular since 2019. Dabba-Kato went by the name Babathunder, a play on the name “Babtunde” that he went by in NXT.
Despite his immense size, Dabba-Kato suffered defeat in his MLW debut. He lost by technical submission, beginning his career in the promotion with a less-than-healthy win/loss record.
It is unknown is he will be making any more appearances for the promotion.
Dabba-Kato On His WWE Release: I Kind Of Sensed It, My Contract Was Coming Up Anyway
In an interview with Developmentally Speaking, Dabba-Kato commented on his WWE release. When asked whether he was surprised, he noted that his contract was coming up anyway. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription)
“I think I kind of sensed it. My contract was coming to an end anyway,” he said. “We already had conversations long before it was close to that. Now, we came pretty close, I started pushing stuff and I could feel there was nothing great planned for me. You get that feeling and I had that feeling the day was going to come. I lived through so many cuts. It happened to so many guys before me. You can prepare yourself a little bit for it. You can prepare yourself financially and mentally, which I didn’t think would be as hard as it was.”
