A GCW star will challenge for the ROH World Championship at ROH Final Battle. Read on if you wish to be spoiled.
On the December 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, ROH World Champion Chris Jericho said that he would appear on the December 5 episode of ROH on HonorClub to discuss his title match at ROH Final Battle.
According to fans in attendance, Matt Cardona interrupted Jericho and answered the challenge. As a result, he is seemingly set to challenge for the title at ROH Final Battle. The match will mark Cardona’s ROH debut.
This comes after a controversial few weeks for the relationship between GCW and AEW. Ricky Starks appeared at GCW Dream On. Starks was then set to work a few upcoming shows. But AEW pulled him from the appearances after Effy made derogatory comments about Tony Khan and his father, per Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select).
Brett Lauderdale Comments
Sapp shared a comment from GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale. He said that he was excited for Matt Cardona and the fans. Lauderdale noted it would be a fun atmosphere at the Hammerstein Ballroom. He also teased that things may have gotten a little more interesting for GCW’s return to the venue on January 19.
