VertVixen wants a rematch against Marina Shafir.
For over 500 days, VertVixen reigned as the DEFY Women’s Champion, with successful title defenses over the likes of Allie Katch, Maki Itoh, and Billie Starkz. In May 2024, however, it seems that she finally met her match as AEW’s Marina Shafir unseated her via knockout at DEFY Here And Now.
In a recent interview with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Vixen reflected on her experience working with Marina Shafir, both in DEFY and The Wrestling Revolver.
“I’m just going to put this out there, I have not tapped to Marina and I have not been pinned. So I just need to make sure I state that,” Vixen said. “Marina is definitely one of the most powerful and incredible and badass women right now, wrestling both signed and on the Indies. To be honest, it really was a great honor to step in the ring with her at both REVOLVER and at DEFY.
“The REVOLVER booking, that was more in her favor. I just have to say that it was more of a Bloodsport style booking, more in her favor. Now, did I learn something? Yes. Did I still not tap? I still did not tap. I’ll state that; that’s very important.”
As Vixen alluded to, her second meeting with Shafir at Revolver took shape in combat-style, specifically a No Ropes Caged Combat, with Shafir emerging victorious by referee’s decision. Looking ahead, “Player One” looks to prove herself against “The Problem,” and furthermore regain her DEFY Women’s Championship.
“I want her back in a professional wrestling ring one-on one because I think that her and I would not only beat the hell out of each other and tear the house down, but I deserve a proper, fair rematch back from my belt,” Vixen said.
