Danhausen Credits Cody Rhodes, CM Punk & Others For Landing AEW Job

Danhausen has a number of AEW wrestlers to thank for his job with the promotion.

The indie star signed with the company in early 2022. He made his debut during AEW Dynamite: Beach Break on January 26th of that year. It saw him being pulled out from under the ring by Adam Cole during his match with “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy.

Over the past two years, he has mainly wrestled in tag team matches, aligning himself with both Orange Cassidy and HOOK. He’s also been a great merchandise seller. However, Danhausen has not appeared since last year’s AEW World’s End pre-show and his future in the promotion seems to be in doubt. The wrestler hasn’t been in contact with Tony Khan for over six months and it looks like he could leave AEW once his contract expires.

Danhausen was recently interviewed by Buff Bagwell on his YouTube channel (H/T to Fightful for the transcription). He spoke about his first time backstage in AEW and the wrestlers who helped get him hired in the company.

Despite having a broken leg at the time, stars like Cody Rhodes and CM Punk helped Danhausen get a job in AEW. He also mentioned Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy who he thinks had a hand in it too.

“I showed up to say hello to people.” Danhausen told Buff Bagwell. “To their credit, Cody Rhodes said, ‘Are you doing something tonight?’. I said, ‘No, my leg is broken.’. He said, ‘I’ll make sure you’re doing something tonight.’. So, Cody, I think, had a little bit to do with helping me get a job there. I believe Pepsi Phil [CM Punk] had something to help with that. I believe Chris Judas [Chris Jericho] had something to help with that because I did his cruise. Orange Cassidy, I believe helped.” Danhausen said.
