Gunther is reportedly finalizing a new multi-year deal with WWE.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that World Heavyweight Champion Gunther is in the final stages of a new WWE deal. Per Johnson, he is either at the end of discussions or has just signed a new multi-year deal with the company.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) also reported the news. Sapp writes that, per WWE sources, Gunther was closing in a new contract, and they expected the deal to get done this year, barring unforeseen sources.
Per Sapp, sources claimed that the contract was a long-term, multi-year deal, and the company has been thrilled with Gunther’s performance, both in the ring and while doing media. Sapp cites one WWE higher-up who referred to Gunther as “among the most professional talents they had ever worked with.”
Gunther has had a remarkable run in recent years. He had a record-breaking 666-day reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion. In 2024, he won the King of the Ring tournament. He then beat Damian Priest to win the world at WWE SummerSlam. Gunther went on to retain the title against Randy Orton at WWE Bash in Berlin.
