Would Samantha Irvin come back to announce a match for Ricochet?
In October, Samantha Irvin announced her departure from WWE. Since then, Irvin has stated that WWE only saw her as a ring announcer, despite her interest in expanding to other non-wrestling roles such as managing. Irvin’s husband and AEW star Ricochet has reiterated this as well, previously noting that she wants to be a stage performer of some sort.
Appearing on Casual Conversations with The Classic, Ricochet addressed the possibility of Irvin returning to ring announcing for a one-off, specifically to introduce a match of his.
“Probably not, I would say no. I wouldn’t even want her to do that,” Ricochet said. “She just doesn’t want to be a ring announcer at all. Any type of announcing, whether it’s boxing or UFC or NFL or basketball, she doesn’t want to announce the people’s names and ‘Here from Lexington, Kentucky…’ She doesn’t want to do that specific act.
“She still would love to be a character; she still would love to be in a story. She would love to make the fans feel emotions and make them go through the rollercoaster of emotions that she would like. But as simply just calling someone’s weight and town and telling them to come out, she doesn’t want to do that anymore.”
While Irvin’s next steps have yet to be seen, Ricochet has now cemented himself as a regular fixture in All Elite Wrestling, where’s currently competing in the 2024 Continental Classic.
