Finn Balor will challenge for the gold at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
At WWE Survivor Series, Balor interfered in the World Heavyweight Championship match between Gunther and Damian Priest. He attacked Priest and cost him the match.
On the December 2 episode of WWE RAW, Finn Balor, alongside Dominik Mysterio, confronted Gunther backstage. Balor said that Gunther owed him a title match for his help. Gunther disagreed, saying that he did not owe him anything. Gunther agreed to give Dominik Mysterio a match instead, as he noted that Mysterio previously beat Priest.
Gunther went on to defeat Mysterio. Balor blindsided him and attacked him after the match. He hit Gunther with the Coup de Grace three times.
Later in the show, Balor confronted RAW General Manager Adam Pearce and said he wanted a title match. Pearce noted that he had not earned one, but Gunther wanted the match as well. He then announced that Gunther would defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Balor at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14.
