Raquel Rodriguez: Liv Morgan Has Always Been Number One For Me

Raquel Rodriguez reveals how Liv Morgan helped her recover as she lay on the shelf for months.

The WWE star was sidelined for months due to Mast Cell Activation Syndrome. While she was out of action, she struggled to see herself returning to the ring and worries that her career was over.

However, Raquel Rodriguez revealed in an interview with SI that Liv Morgan helped her get through those troubled times. She explained how the Women’s World Champion was there for her, even when dealing with her own injuries.

Raquel Rodriguez added that Liv Morgan never stopped reaching out to her, which makes her “number one for me” in her eyes.

“Falling into like this year long, of really having these realizations of my life and the people in it and what was going on, I realized who were the strongest people for me and who were the closest people to me and who were there for me,” Rodriguez said. “Liv never stopped reaching out. No matter how busy she was.”

“She was at home dealing with her own shoulder injury. She always reached out to me.” Raquel Rodriguez added. “She always checked up on me, she always sent me something nice. She tried multiple times to come visit me as well. So you go where things feel right. Where things feel loyal. And Liv has always been number one for me.”

Raquel Rodriguez Worried She Would Never Return To The Ring

Raquel Rodriguez did worry during her time off that she’d never get to wrestle again.

Speaking to Graham Matthews on WrestleRant Radio, Rodriguez was asked if she was worried if she’d never be able to return. She said it crossed her mind at points, but her drive to continue fighting and proving herself as one of the best WWE stars kept her going. (H/t Fightful for the transcription).

“That’s definitely something that crosses someone’s mind as an athlete. As a wrestler, if you get injured or you get sick. you definitely put in a position where you’re going, going, going with appearances, wrestling on TV, all these things, and then all of a sudden, it just stops, and time almost feels like it stands still, and you’re like, okay, well I’m here, but what do I do? How do I find my purpose? [That’s] really the key question that I think comes into your mind because we can get very confused,” said Rodriguez. “Me for instance, this has been my dream since I was a little girl.

“I’ve been watching my dad wrestle, I’ve been trying to get into this since I was a little girl. I’ve been fighting ever since the day I signed that contract to be here. And I’ve been fighting every day to prove myself as a worthy contender. As a worthy WWE superstar for the company. So for all of that to just get taken away, I almost felt lost because it was like my identity, my purpose, my whole reason for working hard was ripped from me, and now I can’t work out.”
