Report: Update On Rey Fenix’s AEW Contract Status

Rey Fenix is reportedly not set to leave AEW any time soon.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) previously reported that Penta El Zero Miedo’s AEW deal is coming up next week, so he is set to enter free agency. In an update, Sapp reports that, per those with knowledge of the situation, Fenix’s AEW contract extends “well into” 2025 due to the injury time that AEW will add to it.

As previously reported, Penta and Rey Fenix, collectively known as the Lucha Brothers, were expected to wrap up with AEW in the fall and head to AEW. However, AEW added injury time to their deals. Per Sapp, there is no word on any creative plans for Fenix.

Rey Fenix has not wrestled for AEW since the AEW Collision taping on July 20. He has not competed otherwise since the CMLL event on July 26.

Fenix and Penta have been with AEW since 2019. They have won the AEW World Tag Team Championship and the ROH World Tag Team Championship. They also captured the AEW World Trios Championship. Additionally, Fenix has won the AEW International Championship. Otherwise, Fenix and Penta have won the tag team titles in IMPACT, AAA, and MLW, among other promotions.
