Sami Zayn admits that he was initially somewhat hesitant about CM Punk‘s return to WWE.
On the latest WWE Playback, Sami Zayn and other stars watched the Men’s WarGames Match at WWE Survivor Series 2023, including CM Punk’s return at the end of the show. In one highlight, Zayn was asked to comment on what he thought when CM Punk’s music played.
“Kind of hard to say,” Zayn said. “I think there was still some weird underlying stuff with Punk, and Punk, I guess it’s pretty well documented, he’s an interesting character who’s had his ups and downs with most people, both in the ring and backstage at various points. So I think there was just some unresolved stuff between he and I.
“We hadn’t spoken for I don’t know how many years at this time. So seeing him back, at first, it’s like, huh, okay. But we eventually ended up talking whatever issues that were out, and it just is what it is. I think those people [cheering], kind of doesn’t matter what I think. I think that’s all that really matters.”
