Viva Van looks back on a recent acting gig.
In addition to professional wrestling, Viva Van has ventured into the realms of acting, music, and business. Last year, two of those worlds intersected when Van appeared as a wrestler on the Netflix comedy I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson.
During a recent interview with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay, Van explained how her involvement in the series came about.
“So I got hit up and said ‘Hey, we need wrestlers for the show.’ I didn’t know much about the show. I’ve heard about the show, so I decided to watch it and I was like ‘Oh okay, this is pretty cool, they need wrestlers,'” Van recalled. “My involvement was just dressing up 80s kind of like how I did for GLOW. Dressing up 80s, got my crazy teased and crimped hair and wore these cool 80s outfits, just doing wrestling moves in them. My involvement, just wrestling.”
Van’s I Think You Should Leave appearance came in episode four of the show’s third season. In it, actor-comedian Sam Richardson introduces a new project called Pacific Proposal Park, which is intended to be the perfect environment for marriage proposals. Unfortunately, the park’s spongy soil also acts as an ideal ground for wrestlers to slam each other onto.
This dynamic prompted the casting of several real pro wrestlers for this episode, including Van, Chris Bey, Joey Janela, Royce Isaacs, Ryan Nemeth, and Joseph Rudd (aka Erick Rowan). At one point, viewers can see Ruud (as Toilet Truck) using an open toilet seat to choke Nemeth (Yes, you read that correctly).
Looking ahead, Viva Van is aiming to get more involved in acting. For right now, though, professional wrestling appears to be her main focus.
