Bully Ray doesn’t understand why the fans don’t like Chris Jericho any more.
Chris Jericho has been a huge part of All Elite Wrestling since its inception. He was a key figure in the company getting its first TV deal and was the first man to hold the AEW World Championship.
However, the former AEW Champion has caught flack in recent years. His in-ring work has diminished and fans have grown weary of his character and overly-long feuds. Despite “The Learning Tree” gimmick being very funny there is definitely a subset of fans who are sick of seeing Chris Jericho dominate their screens.
Bully Ray does not understand this. He spoke on Busted Open Radio and questioned why the AEW fans are giving Chris Jericho so much hate. (H/T to WrestlingInc for the transcription).
He argued that the former WWE Champion was trying to entertain and was happy to put over younger stars in the ring. While there may be an argument that wrestlers come out of their feuds with Jericho worse than they came in, what happens after they face Jericho is up to them.
“He’s trying to entertain you with the band, entertain you with the backstage segments, always reinventing himself. Jericho is doing everything and everything to help AEW out, whether that’s with young talent himself, you name it. He checks every single frickin’ box. Yet they give him the backlash and the hate that they do. Why? Why, AEW fans, Why?” Bully Ray said.
“He’s putting other talents in great positions. He’s giving other talents the rub, but he can’t be the other talent for the other talent. He can only put them in the best position to succeed. Chris Jericho can only present them with the best opportunities to succeed. Then they have to execute,” added Bully Ray.
