Report: WWE Planning To Introduce WWE Women’s Intercontinental Title (Updated)

WWE is in the process of crowning the Women’s United States Championship, but another title is being planned for the women’s division.

On the November 8 episode of SmackDown, Nick Aldis announced the creation of the Women’s United States Championship. A tournament is currently underway to crown the inaugural champion. The finals will be held at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that WWE is planning to introduce a WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship on RAW. The report notes that it’s expected that this would likely get introduced after the Women’s United States Championship has been established.

Update: WWE confirmed the news ahead of the November 25 episode of WWE RAW. Adam Pearce addressed the crowd and introduced the Women’s Intercontinental Champion. He stated that a tournament to crown the champion would begin next week.
