CM Punk shares his thoughts on the anniversary of his WWE return.
One year ago, CM Punk made his shocking return at the end of WWE Survivor Series, as he appeared after the Men’s WarGames match. This marked his return to the company following his controversial exit in 2014. Though an injury derailed the early part of his comeback, he has reestablished himself as one of WWE’s top stars.
In a post on Instagram, CM Punk reflected on his return. He thanked everyone and looked forward to the future.
“Happy one year anniversary of my [return] to WWE,” he wrote. “Thank you to all the fans for waiting, chanting my name for years and carrying me on this journey, thank you to my family and friends backstage for the warmth and continued support. Thank you Paul, Nick and Bruce for the trust and making it all happen. Love you all! We are just getting started.”
CM Punk took some time off following his win over Drew McIntyre at WWE Bad Blood. He returned on the November 22 episode of WWE SmackDown. There, he was revealed as the fifth man for the OG Bloodline’s team in the WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series.
CM Punk On Expectations For Next Year
Heading into 2025, Punk is excited for the future. Speaking with Peter Rosenberg at ComplexCon, Punk was asked to comment on the expectations that he had for next year.
“I think we pick up where we left off,” CM Punk said. “The tricep injury really threw a monkey wrench into everything, plans for WrestleMania, plans I had for myself, plans I had for other people, if you know what I mean.
“So to me, I’m really fortunate, I get to relive the past year. I get to have another comeback, another return. I get to have another road to Wrestlemania. And I think for me, what’s left in my career to do so right now, everything’s just frosting on top of a pretty badass cake. I’m here to enjoy the ride, honestly, riding the wave.”
