Mercedes Moné names Manami Toyota as the wrestler she’d love to face in a dream match.
The TBS Champion has long been inspired by the Japanese legend. Manami Toyota was one of the stars of All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling in the 1980s and 1990s. She is widely regarded as one of the greatest female wrestlers ever. Her matches against the likes of Aja Kong, Akira Hokuto and Mima Shimoda definitely helped prove that point.
Mercedes Moné spoke with Ginger Vision House and was asked who her all-time dream opponent is. Without hesitation, she named Manami Toyota, although she was weary that she’d get her head “kicked off” in the process.
The TBS Champion added Trish Stratus, Mickie James and Rey Mysterio as other wrestlers she’d love to face.
“There are so many! My number one dream opponent would be Manami Toyota. If I could wrestle her from the ’90s, maybe ’92, my head would probably be kicked off into the 10th row—but I would give it my all. I think she’s one of the greatest women’s wrestlers of all time, so that would be a dream match for me.” Mercedes Moné said.
“I’d also say Trish Stratus and Mickie James are dream matches for me. And if I had to choose a guy wrestler, I would love to wrestle Rey Mysterio.”
Mercedes Mone Is In AEW To Be The Best And Help The Next Generation
Mercedes Moné is in AEW not only to be the best but to share advice with the younger wrestlers.
Moné, the TBS Champion, revealed that she is happy to share what she’s learned in her 14 years in wrestling so far. However, she is also in AEW to be the best, which she has proven so far in the ring.
“I feel like a lot of the girls are shy, but the ones who do come up to me have asked for advice, and I’m always there to give it. That’s what I’m here to do.” Mercedes Mone said.
“I’ve been in this industry for 14 years, so I might know a little something about getting through this business. For me, it’s just about being who I am—the CEO for a reason. Whether it’s for the women or the men, if anyone needs advice or help in their careers, or even just a little sound advice, I’m here. My door is always open; you can knock anytime.”
“I’m here to be the best, to help the next generation, and to still make my dreams and goals come true as well.”
