Tony Khan hopes Adam Copeland can return from injury in the near future.
The WWE Hall of Famer made a shocking debut for AEW at WrestleDream last year. It came just days after his WWE contract expired and was one of the company’s biggest debuts ever.
However, disaster struck at Double or Nothing 2024. Adam Copeland faced Malakai Black for the TNT Championship in a cage match at the event. He leapt from the top of the cage, coming straight down and landing on one leg, breaking it.
Adam Copeland was forced to vacate the title, but Tony Khan looks to rely on him when he finally returns to the ring.
Tony Khan spoke with the press in the AEW Full Gear 2024 post-show media scrum. He was asked for an update on Adam Copeland, to which the AEW President said he hopes Copeland will be back in the near future.
He added that the injury was “devastating”, but Tony Khan compliment AEW’s incredible depth in the talent roster. Tony Khan noted that he’s going to be very excited when he does finally return.
Tony Khan On Adam Copeland Returning From Injury
“We’ve been missing him very, very much. He was doing so great this year for us as the TNT Champion. We really missed the ‘Rated-R Superstar’ so much, and I can’t wait to hopefully get him back at some point in the near future.”
“It was really a devastating thing, but we’re very blessed to have such a great roster in AEW because everybody really stepped up. When you lose somebody so valuable to the team like Adam Copeland, it’s always going to hurt.”
“As soon as we can get him back, it’s going to make a huge positive difference to have Adam back on this team. We really missed the ‘Rated-R Superstar,’ and it was one of those really hard things that happened at the MGM Grand at Double or Nothing when we temporarily lost Adam from the roster. Whenever he gets back, we’re going to be so excited.”
