MVP Makes In-Ring Return At Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XII

MVP returned to the ring at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XII.

AEW’s MVP headlined Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XII on November 24. He faced Josh Barnett in his first match since July 2022.

The former WWE star played some mind games with Barnett early on, and he returned the favor. They felt each other out and battled for positioning early on, and the match was a stalemate. MVP took Barnett to the mat and went for an arm-bar.

He then went for a heel hook, but Barnett got to his feet. Barnett mocked MVP’s “Ballin’” taunt. They traded blows, and Barnett took him down with a gutwrench suplex.

MVP transitioned and gained the upper hand. He drilled Barnett with some stiff shots. MVP dumped Barnett with a suplex. He continued to control the action. Barnett and MVP traded strikes. MVP drilled him with a series of forearms. MVP then did his “Ballin’” taunt. Barnett hit him with some strikes.

MVP took him down and hit some elbows. Barnett transitioned and drilled MVP with some blows. He dropped MVP with a gutwrench suplex. Barnett locks in a rear naked choke, and the referee calls for the bell. 

MVP Comments On His Loss

After the match, MVP addressed the crowd and commented on his loss. He noted that he first trained with Barnett years ago. He spoke highly of Barnett. MVP said that he was good, but Barnett was great. He thanked the fans, GCW, and Barnett. They embraced, and MVP said they would do this again. Barnett and MVP shook hands.

Barnett said that MVP indeed hurt people. He also said that he was proud of being part of MVP’s journey. He said that MVP has grown a lot, and he couldn’t be more proud. Barnett then highlighted how special Bloodsport was. He said that he was coming to Hammerstein Ballroom for GCW’s January 19 event and issued an open challenge.
