Tony Khan: It Could Be Several Months Before AEW PPVs Air On MAX, Still Expects It In 2025

Tony Khan is unsure when AEW pay-per-views will be available on HBO Max.

As part of AEW’s new TV deal with Warner Brothers Discovery, PPV events are set to be broadcast on HBO Max. However, details about how the service will work have been limited. Neither party has confirmed when they will become available or how it will work.

Tony Khan spoke with the media ahead of AEW Full Gear. The AEW President was asked when PPV’s will make it to HBO Max and how much they might cost. Tony Khan said he doesn’t have an update and that they are busy behind the scenes upgrading HBO Max to facilitate live pay-per-view events.

He added that it will be several months until they are available. He did note a number of other PPV providers you can use to watch AEW.

“It’s too soon for me to give an update on that. A lot of it is in the hands of our amazing media partners, to whom we are very grateful, at Warner Brothers Discovery. We have a great relationship with them. It’s a blessing to bring pro wrestling back to TBS and TNT. Now to launch pro wrestling for the first time ever on Max. I’m really excited about it, and I know the simulcast of Dynamite and Collision is something fans can look forward to as we kick off 2025.” Tony Khan said.

“The pay-per-view delivery on Max will require significant upgrades and technical work on the back end. I don’t want to put a date out there that I’m not sure about. There’s a lot of work to be done by the Max engineering team to provide that capability for pay-per-views.”

“So, I’ll have to punt on the question of when the pay-per-views will launch on Max as a service to carry them. For now, we have great pay-per-view providers in place. With Bleacher Report sunsetting its pay-per-view capability, we’re utilizing platforms like YouTube, PPV.com, Triller, FITE TV, as well as all our cable and satellite providers. These offer fans plenty of ways to access our pay-per-views in the interim.” Tony Khan explained

“Looking ahead, I’m really excited for when Max gets that delivery system up and running. Once it’s ready, we have a solid plan for how it will work for Max subscribers. It’s just a matter of time before we roll it out. I expect it to arrive at some point in 2025, but for now, it could still be several months before we see the Max pay-per-view delivery system operational.”
