Blue Meanie Wants WWE To (Finally) Release The Blonde Bytch Project

Blue Meanie wants fans to finally see the infamous “Blonde Bytch Project.”

There are several ideas and tapings within the world of professional wrestling that have never seen the light of day. One such unreleased idea is the Blonde Bytch Project. The series of vignettes spoofed the highly popular horror film The Blair Witch Project, which had just hit theatres in 1999. WWE’s version was designed to take shots at former WWE Women’s Champion Sable, who left the company and was involved in a lawsuit with WWE.

“The Blonde Bytch Project” was planned out by Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara and recorded in full with The Blue Meanie and Stevie Richards. Unfortunately, after the first episode aired, the project was shut down and shelved indefinitely.

Recently, Blue Meanie requested WWE to release the rest of the episodes.

“Dear WWE Vault, Please release the Blonde Bytch Project. It’s been long enough,” Blue Meanie tweeted.

Meanie has discussed the segment publicly over the past several years, including giving some behind-the-scenes notes about the production. He said the climax involved Stevie Richards wearing a wig and Sable’s black catsuit, lampooning a scene in the film.

Meanie also said cutting the project was a Vince McMahon call, as the former WWE Chairman apparently “didn’t get it.” He noted that the lawsuit very well could have played a role in not airing the full series. However, as it was explained to him, Vince never saw the Blair Witch Project and made the decision to scrap it entirely.
