Tony Khan is hopeful that fans will see Toni Storm back in an AEW ring soon.
Toni Storm made headlines on Wednesday by announcing her retirement from professional wrestling. Storm told James Dator of SB Nation that AEW didn’t need a loser like her, and that she was putting her chin down and tits in. She claimed fans shouldn’t even bother watching for the shoe, playing on her “Timeless” catchphrase.
It seemed clear that this was purely storyline, as Storm is still booked for other appearances including WrestleCade in North Carolina next week. All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan participated in the Full Gear Media Call on Thursday, where he was asked about Storm’s remarks.
When asked about her proclamation, Khan said Toni Storm‘s demise has been greatly exaggerated. He believes Storm is just struggling right now, but she will have a great career.
Khan said Storm might feel like he lost everything after losing her title and Mariah May, but he hopes Toni can find herself and return to AEW.
“I think that reports of her demise have been greatly exaggerated,” Tony Khan said. “I still expect Toni Storm will have a great wrestling career, but she’s really struggling, clearly, with what’s happened. She lost the world title, she lost her protégé. And I think she feels like she lost everything and now she’s lost. I hope Toni Storm can find herself and come back to us here in AEW because ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm is a great part of AEW.”
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more on Toni Storm’s in-ring future as it becomes available.
