Paul Wight appeared at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards.
Wight, dressed as Captain Insano, was on-stage while Bradley Zimmerman performed. He also gave Zimmerman a ride on his shoulders.
Wight played Captain Insano in The Waterboy, the 1998 comedy starring Adam Sandler. He appeared as Captain Insano in The Acclaimed’s music video in 2022. Wight also played the character in a taped segment on AEW Dynamite in September 2023.
Paul Wight On In-Ring Return
Wight has not wrestled since January 2024. He had both hips and knees replaced, and the recovery sidelined him for several months. However, he wants to return to the ring.
Speaking on Downunder The Ring, Paul Wight commented on potentially returning to the ring. He noted that Tony Khan paid him to wrestle, and he had not done that very much. (H/t Andrew Thompson of POST Wrestling for the transcription)
“God, I hope so (I can get back in the ring) because Tony Khan paid me a sh*t ton of money to get in the ring and so far, I haven’t done sh*t so,” Paul Wight said.”… I did, I did (take a bump onto a car). Then right after that, I went and got my knee replaced. Thanks Will Hobbs (he laughed).”
