Bobby Lashley Reflects On The End Of WWE Run, Wanted To Put The Street Profits Over

Bobby Lashley had a plan to put multiple stars over in WWE, but his time in the company ended before he could.

Lashley left WWE earlier in 2024 when his contract expired, and he signed with AEW. He made his AEW debut at AEW Fright Night Dynamite in October.

Speaking with The Lame Guys Podcast, Bobby Lashley commented on the end of his time in WWE and stated that he had more to give.

“I didn’t know how it was gonna be going over to AEW because a lot of people were putting under my messages, ‘Go back to WWE,'” Lashley said. “I was like, I don’t think it’s really my choice here [laughs]. I think WWE kind of like, ‘We’re not gonna renew with you, so we’re gonna move on.’ So for me, I always looked at it as, ‘I have so much more to give, I still want to.’ When I went over to AEW, it was because of that.”

Bobby Lashley Wanted Street Profits To Turn On Him

Lashley also said that he had a plan to stay in WWE, and he wanted to do certain things on his way out. He named having the Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) turning on him as an example.

“I’m not saying I didn’t get treated well over at WWE because by far, I was treated really well,” Lashley said. “I made it to big levels, I made held huge titles in WWE, and I was able to learn a lot. It’s just two different companies. Over at AEW, I think in my career, where it is right now, I think it’s really good for me. Could I have or would I have hoped that I could have stayed with WWE? Absolutely.

“My plan was to have one more, maybe two years, and then retire with WWE because I was doing the stuff with the Street Profits, and what I ultimately wanted at the end of that, when I go out, there’s certain things that I want to do. I wanted Dawkins and or Montez to turn on me. I wanted to have a feud with one of them, and then the other one, and then eventually have both of them take me out at the end. Both of them are just amazingly talented.”

Bobby Lashley Wanted To Turn Austin Theory Babyface

Lashley went on to note that he wanted to put over Dawkins, Ford, and Austin Theory. He said that he wanted to turn Theory babyface, and he was interested in working with LA Knight as well.

“There’s three or four people that I wanted to go out on, and I wanted every one of them to have a good feud with me, and I wanted to be able to put all of them over,” Lashley said. “It was definitely Dawkins, definitely Montez.

“Austin Theory, I wanted to turn him babyface, and I never had an opportunity to really do something with LA Knight, and he and I were good friends before in IMPACT, so when we were coming over, we had several talks about him coming over. I was like, that would be a cool one. Outside of that, I had really no ego with it. I just wanted to really go out in the right way, but that just didn’t happen.”
