The Rock On ‘Moana 2’

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, The Rock discussed Moana 2. He highlighted how the song Chee Hoo! is a female empowerment song.

“In the first one, I sang ‘What can I say except you’re welcome‘. And in this one. What I like about this one is we have Barlow & Bea. They are a great writing tandem, artists who won a Grammy, by the way, for Bridgerton. They came in, and they wrote this song. At first, I thought, ‘Well, You’re Welcome is gonna be hard to follow. How do you follow that?’ But then they came up with this idea and the concept of following it with a female empowerment song sung by Maui to empower Moana.” The Rock said.

“I thought it’s not only perfect timing but also important to empower this girl. Because it’s like, hey, whatever you think you can’t do, you actually can do. So it’s great! It’s called Can I Get a Chee Hoo? Okay, so in Polynesian culture, you know, we’re like, ‘Chee hoo!’ Right? Like, that’s a thing.”
