Everyone surrounds the ring. After the break, Frazer gets a near fall after a backflip into a DDT. Frazer sends Thorpe out of the ring, which causes everyone to brawl outside the ring. Frazer lands a dive, taking out the field. Thorpe eats a Phoenix plash from Frazer. Frazer gets the pin.

Winner- Nathan Frazer

After the match, the brawl continues.

Grade: C+

Good opening contest. Incorporating the issues Frazer has with the tag division was a nice touch.

Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifying Match: Jaida Parker vs. Stephanie Vaquer

As soon as the bell rings, Parker bodyslams Vaquer. Parker works Vaquer’s arm. Vaquer escapes and gets run over by Parker. Vaquer rolls up Parker. Parker kicks out. Rolling prawn hold by Vaquer. Parker kicks out again. Vaquer stomps on Parker’s elbow. Vaquer counters a charging Parker with a hanging cross-arm breaker. Parker catches Vaquer as she springboards off the top rope and lands a backbreaker. Teardrop hip attack by Parker.

After the break, Parker lands a backstabber. Vaquer kicks out. Inverted suplex by Parker. Vaquer kicks at two. Parker works over Vaquer. Vaquer fires up and lands a flurry of strikes. Vaquer lands her signature head scissor-head slam. Parker responds with a falcon arrow for a near fall. Parker lands a gourd buster and sets up Hypnotiq. As Parker hits the ropes, she notices Lola Vice holding a brick in the aisle. Parker turns around and eats a nasty superkick from Vaquer. Vaquer hits her finish for the win.

Winner- Stephane Vaquer

Grade: B

So far, this is the match of the night. It remains to be seen if that will hold, but Parker and Vaquer put on a heck of a match tonight. Parker shined and showed an expanded move set, which Vaquer sold like death. Vaquer clearly went out of her way to shine Parker in a loss, which makes sense. No one came away from this thing looking worse, just better.

NXT North American Champion Tony D’Angelo vs. Brooks Jensen

Jensen takes control early and works over D’Angelo. D’Angelo tries a back bump to break a sleeper by Jensen, but Jensen holds on. D’Angelo breaks the hold by sending Jensen over the top. Jensen slams into the floor. D’Angelo gets awkwardly hung up in the ropes. D’Angelo favors his knee but seems to be fine as he lands a flurry of offense. Jensen hits a spinebuster. D’Angelo responds with a sky-high spinebuster for the win.

Winner- Tony D’Angelo

After the match, Shawn Spears helps Jensen up. Spears and D’Angelo shake hands. Jensen chop blocks D’Angelo’s injured knee. Spears laughs as D’Angelo writhes in pain on the mat.

Grade: C

This was a quick one, thankfully. Jensen seems to be coming into his own with his knee look/gimmick, but there wasn’t much to this match beyond the angle after the fact. Let’s be real: the only way Shawn Spears beats D’Angelo is if D’Angelo is hurt, so this all made perfect sense. Now, their pending title match is more than just a blip in the reign of D’Angelo. There is a slight chance D’Angelo can lose this. What do you all think? Let us know in the comments!

Ashantee “Thee” Adonis & Karmen Petrovic vs. Dion Lennox & Brinley Reece

Adonis keeps tagging in Petrovic, and since this is a mixed tag match, Reece and Lennox have to switch places each time. Reece gets annoyed and attacks Petrovic before Adonis can tag back in. Reece lands a series of strikes. Lennox tags in and sends Adonis flying with a suplex. Adonis responds with a high dropkick.

Lennox sends Adonis flying with a back body drop. Lennonx manages to put on the brakes before almost knocking Petrovic off the apron. Adonis sends Lennox into the top rope throat first. Reece tags in and lands a flurry of offense. After a distraction from Adonis, Petrovic kicks Reece in the head and pins her.

Winners- Ashantee “Thee” Adonis & Karmen Petrovic

Grade: C

Fun match. It helps that NXT is taking the time to give everyone storylines to enrich these lower-card matches. Everyone involved here potentially has a bright future in WWE. Lennox, especially. He has something in the ring. Given time, he could be a solid superstar on the roster.

Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifying Match: Wren Sinclair vs. ZARIA

Charlie Dempsey tries to fire Sinclair up. ZARIA lands a rolling double suplex. Sinclair counters another suplex attempt by ZARIA into a small package. ZARIA kicks out and clotheslines Sinclair over the top. ZARIA gets distracted by Dempsey. Sinclair surprises ZARIA with a suicide dive. Flurry of offense by Sinclair. Zaria stops Sinclair with a clothesline. Sinclair dives off the top. ZARIA side steps. Sinclair lands on her feet but gets cut in half by a spear from ZARIA. ZARIA lands the F5 for the win.

Winner- ZARIA

Grade: B-

Another solid match. ZARIA tosses Sinclair all over the ring tonight. The crowd was hot for both women, but they fully bought into Sinclair as an underdog. ZARIA is a star in the making, but watch out for Sinclair. The more this writer sees of her, the more she impresses.

In-Ring Segment: Fatal Influence

Fallon Henley says the Iron Suviovor challenge is silly. The Women’s North American Championship is what matters, so much so that Henley will issue an open challenge for next week. Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson interrupt. Legend wants the shot. Nikkita Lyons walks out and says she wants the shot. A brawl breaks out. Henley is left in the ring alone. Tatum Paxley appears and drops Henley with her finish.

Grade: B

If only Raw and SmackDown could learn this lesson: less is more. Henley wasn’t in the ring for 15 minutes. This was concise and drove home the point that Henley’s title is highly sought after. This was a good piece of business, as the old timers say.

NXT Championship #1 Contenders Match: Andre Chase vs. Ridge Holland (If Chase loses, Chase U must disband.)

NXT Champion Trick Wiliams is at the commentary desk for this match. Chase attacks as soon as the bell rings. Holland sends Chase flying with a suplex. Holland beats down Chase. Holland pulls up the protective mat outside the ring. Chase U is shown watching from the locker room. Chase manages to land a senton off the apron. After the break, the referee gets taken out.

Holland low blows Chase. Duke Hudson hits the ring and attacks Holland. Holland puts Hudson through a wall a Thea Hail watches on. Riley Osborn takes Holland down with a dive. Holland press slams Osborn on the exposed floor. Chase fires up and lands the Chase U stomps, followed by a uranage. Holland kicks out. Holland counters a splash with the Redeemer for the win.

Grade: C+

The end of this match was never in any doubt. It would have helped if Chase hadn’t entered this match after getting put out for weeks after getting put in an ambulance by Holland. Holland did manage to look like more of a bad@ss after literally destroying all of Chase U singlehandley. If anything, that’s another reason why this match didn’t have the heat it needed. It doesn’t matter how many plants you show in the crowd crying; everyone had a week to prepare for the inevitability of the finish of this match.

WWE NXT Review:

Overall, there was solid action tonight, with Jaida Parker and Stephanie Vaquer’s Iron Survivor Qualifying match being the high mark of the night and the one to watch. The chaos in the tag team and Women’s North American championship divisions added to the night’s positives. The number one contender’s match in the main event was a spectacle that had an ending that was too predictable for it not to sully the proceedings. What did you all think of the show?
