Former TNA X-Division Champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey is reportedly AEW-bound, and a new report provides an update.
As previously reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Mike Bailey’s TNA contract expired on November 1. Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select) also reported the news and wrote that Bailey was expected to land in AEW.
In an update, Johnson reports that Mike Bailey is gone from TNA. Johnson cites AEW sources who believe that he will debut as part of the AEW Continental Classic.
The AEW Continental Classic is set to begin on the November 27 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Matt Hardy On Mike Bailey
On a recent episode of his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy commented on Bailey’s rumored move to AEW.
“I think he is an ideal fit for AEW, especially with their style and kind of the matches they are typically looking for to produce on their television,” Matt Hardy said. “He’s gonna do great out there. I have nothing but the greatest things to say about Mike Bailey.
“My time working with him had been a pleasure. He really gets it. He gets the idea of classic wrestling and storytelling a lot better than I expected him to because I knew he was a guy that did all these flashy, super cool moves. He’s a great athlete, but he’s got a great mind. Big fan of Mike Bailey. I think he’s got a ton of potential, and just a real sweetheart of a human being.”
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
