Gunther can’t relate to Damian Priest because he rarely loses compared to his opponent.
The former Judgement Day member cut into the World Heavyweight Champion during their face-to-face on Raw last week. He took inspiration from Eminem’s character in 8-Mile, saying everything Gunther was going to say about him first.
Damian Priest claimed that Gunther’s unbeatable aura started to fade after he beat Priest to become champion. This was only compounded by his loss to Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel.
Some people have claimed that these claims have rattled Gunther ahead of their upcoming match. This face-off set up the pair’s rematch at Survivor Series for the World Heavyweight Champion.
Gunther appeared on the Johnjay & Rich Show, where he addressed the people who claimed he was shaken by Damian Priest’s comments on Raw (H/T to Fightful for the transcription).
The World Heavyweight Champion said that he couldn’t relate to Damian Priest as he didn’t lose as much as the former champion. He added that while he does lose occasionally, Priest is not fit to lace Gunther’s boots in the ring.
“I don’t know if he can relate because he loses a little bit more than I do. I never really lose.” Gunther said. “When I lose, sometimes it can be a struggle. It happens to the best, obviously. That’s my struggle and I have to figure it out. If he wants to use that against me, I don’t blame him. If I’m at my best, he can’t lace my boots.”
Gunther: I’m Happy To Teach Goldberg A Lesson If He Wants To Wrestle Again
When he’s done with Damian Priest, Gunther is happy to take on Goldberg in a WWE ring.
Gunther appeared on WWE La Previa (via WWE Español) ahead of WWE Crown Jewel. He was asked to comment on his confrontation with Goldberg.
“I was invited out there to speak about the Crown Jewel Championship, and we had a lot of legends in the house. I met a lot of them backstage,” Gunther said. “And one of the very few I didn’t meet that I just saw was there before was Goldberg.
“So when our eyes crossed basically, I was like, ‘Why not break some balls a little bit?’ I’ve done him…he doesn’t seem to be able to take things lightly. I tried to lighten up the mood a little bit. But if push comes to shove and he thinks he wants to get back into the business and wrestle again, then I’m happy to teach him a lesson.”
