Bayley says nobody knew about the introduction of the WWE Women’s United States Championship, and she’s very excited about it.
On the November 8 episode of WWE SmackDown, Nick Aldis unveiled the WWE Women’s United States Championship. The tournament to crown the inaugural champion began the following week, There, Bayley defeated B-Fab and Candice LeRae to advance to the next round.
Speaking with Headliner Chicago, Bayley was asked about the introduction of the title. She noted that she was genuinely surprised.
“I think…nobody knew that that was happening. So in a way, it was really cool to be surprised, and I was just happy that I was in front of a monitor when it was happening,” Bayley said. “I was in the middle of a meeting with one of my bosses, and it just popped up, I heard Nick Aldis talk about the women, and I was like, ‘Hold on. Please, can we just watch this real quick?’
“I’m so happy that I caught it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been around a monitor because there was so much going on. But I’m really excited for all of us.”
Bayley: I Believe That We Deserve It
Bayley went on to say that the title was a huge deal for the women’s division. She said that she truly believed that they deserved it.
“I tweeted something after it was announced. But whether you’re been here for 15 weeks or 15 years, or you just got signed, or you don’t really know where you lie in the division, this is a huge deal,” she said. “Even if you’re just a fan and you want to get to the WWE, if WWE is your dream, that could be a dream. It’s exciting, it’s an exciting time all around. I truly believe that we deserve it.”
