AEW Collision results

This week’s episode of AEW Collision kicks off with a match between Mina Shirakawa and Harley Cameron.

Mina Shirakawa vs. Harley Cameron

  • The finish of the match saw Mina Shirakawa hit Harley Cameron with the Glamorous Driver to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Mina Shirakawa

Grade: A

This was the perfect match to kick off the show. They gave Mina and Harley a lot of time to work which allowed the crowd to really get into it. It was a strong win for Shirakawa and Cameron continues to improve every time she steps into the ring. Great start to the show.

Why is Jack Perry here?

TNT Champion Jack Perry pulls up to the building in his bus but isn’t scheduled for tonight’s show. Daniel Garcia is in action next.

Daniel Garcia vs. Johnny TV (w/ MxM Collection)

  • During the match, Jack Perry hops the rail and attacks Daddy Magic who was doing commentary, and drags him out through the crowd. The finish of the match saw Daniel Garcia lock Johnny TV in a seated Cobra Clutch to win the match via submission.

Winner: Daniel Garcia

After the match, Garcia looks to the commentary table and realizes Daddy Magic is gone. Schiavone explains to Garcia what happened as the Tron lights up and shows Perry attacking Daddy Magic backstage. Garcia rushed to the backstage area in an attempt to save his friend.

Perry chains Daddy Magic to the back of his bus and is going to drive off with him on the ground but Garcia arrives in time to put a beatdown on Perry and stop it.

Grade: A-

This match was a lot of fun and had all the silly nonsense that you would expect from a match that involves the MxM Collection. My only issue with this match is I think this close to Full Gear Garcia shouldn’t be scrapping to pick up a win over Johnny TV who hasn’t been utilized as a credible threat in AEW as of yet. I did like that Garcia was focused on the match and didn’t realize that Perry came out and attacked Daddy Magic. Overall it was a good match, but I would have booked it differently. The aftermath following the match itself was excellent.

A video package airs for Lio Rush who says he’ll be holding championship gold soon.

We return to the parking lot and Garcia and Daddy Magic have chained Jack Perry to the hood of his car and are driving it out of the venue. Madness!

Shelton Benjamin (w/ MVP) vs. Komander (w/ Alex Abrahantes)

  • The finish of the match saw Shelton Benjamin hit Komander with a powerslam to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin

After the match, MVP told Benjamin to take Komander’s mask off. Abrahantes gets involved to try and stop it and MVP takes him out with a clothesline before both men leave.

Grade: A+

Wow… just wow! That match was freaking great. I honestly can’t say enough things about it. Benjamin works like a different animal in AEW and Komander was a perfect partner to pair him with tonight. That match was fantastic. 10/10 no notes!

Kris Statlander sends a warning to Mercedes Moné ahead of AEW Full Gear

Kris Statlander is backstage with Renee Paquette. Statlander says you can expect anything and everything in her match with Mercedes at Full Gear. Hikaru Shida shows up and offers her support for Statlander winning the TBS Championship at Full Gear. Shida asks to be the first one to receive a title shot after Statlander wins. Statlander agrees but wants to face her before that and a match is set up between the two this Wednesday on Dynamite.

The Acclaimed are backstage with Lexy Nair. Bowens and Caster hype up their match tonight against RUSH and The Beast Mortos. MVP and Shelton Benjamin come in and Porter wishes them good luck and gives Caster advice. Bowens doesn’t look thrilled.

Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Bulk Bronson (w/ Boulder and Jacked Jameson)

  • The finish of the match saw Powerhouse Hobbs put Bulk Bronson in the Torture Rack to win the match via submission

Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs

Grade: B

The match was fine for what it was. It was a showcase for Powerhouse Hobbs and that’s exactly what it was. Hobbs taking out both members of Iron Savages to win the match was great. That’s how it should be done.

Is Roderick Strong better than MJF?

Roderick Strong and The Kingdom are backstage with Lexy Nair. Strong hypes up his match against MJF next weekend at Full Gear and says Friedman walks around here thinking he’s smarter and better than everyone but he doesn’t realize what he got himself into. Strong says at Full Gear MJF will realize that he’s better than him and he knows it.

AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party come out onto the stage to watch the next match.

Full Gear Contender’s Series: RUSH and The Beast Mortos (w/ Jake Roberts) vs. The Acclaimed (w/ Billy Gunn)

  • The finish of the match saw Max Caster hit the Mic Drop on The Beast Mortos. Anthony Bowens scores the pinfall victory for his team.

Winners: The Acclaimed

Private Party and The Acclaimed exchange words after the match.

Grade: C+

This was unfortunately exactly what I expected it to be. I’m so over The Acclaimed, Max Caster has go away heat with me. I would have much rather seen LFI in the title match at Full Gear. I have no interest in seeing The Acclaimed as a team anymore let alone with the titles. Please stop the pain, Tony Khan!

Mina Shirakawa wants to celebrate with Mariah May

Mina Shirakawa is backstage with Lexy Nair and says she’s happy to be back in AEW and she’s very excited for Mariah May’s match tonight and does a little dance.

A vignette airs for the MxM Collection. Words won’t do it justice so just check it out below.

The Conglomeration are backstage with Lexy Nair. Tomohiro Ishii doesn’t speak about his match against Chris Jericho so Mark Briscoe and Rocky Romero hype up the match for him. Vintage Mark Briscoe!

FTR are backstage with Lexy Nair. Cash Wheeler says he’s not sure where their heads are out and he’s not sure where they go from here. Wheeler says they have had multiple chances to get the titles back and they haven’t got it done. Dax Harwood says the best team won on Dynamite. Harwood says they could cry about it or they can rebuild. Harwood says it’s The Outrunners’ time and after Full Gear we can get a match with The Outrunners for the titles. This leads to a vignette for The Outrunners.

No Disqualification Match for the AEW Women’s World Championship: Mariah May (c) vs. Anna Jay

  • Deonna Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie are shown watching the match backstage on multiple occasions. The finish of the match saw Mariah May hit Anna Jay with Storm Zero on a chair to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Still Champion, Mariah May

After the match, Mina Shirakawa comes out and celebrates with Mariah May.

Grade: A

A fantastic main event from Mariah May and Anna Jay. They took things to the extreme and really left it all out in the ring. Jay can’t get another title shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship until May drops the title. It seems pretty clear that Mina Shirakawa will be May’s next challenger.

Jon Moxley sets the stage for AEW Full Gear

Jon Moxley is outside with Marina Sharfir and says he underestimated Orange Cassidy. Moxley says he did what he did to Chuck Taylor to get a certain reaction from Cassidy but he didn’t get either. Moxley says Cassidy is a snake and the test will take place on Wednesday when he faces Wheeler Yuta. Mox says his match with Cassidy at Full Gear is going to be harder than he thought.

Moxley claims he feels the weight of the last five years of AEW and if Cassidy doesn’t like the way he does things he can take his head off at Full Gear and put the crown on his head and see how it feels. Moxley says he’ll put Cassidy’s blood on his flag at Full Gear.

A video package set to the song “November Rain” by Guns N Roses closes tonight’s episode of AEW Collision.

AEW Collision Review:

I thought this was a damn good episode of AEW Collision. The first hour was incredible and while the second hour couldn’t match it, there was still some good stuff in there. The main event was excellent and there were a few great matches in the first hour. The show closing with the video package was a nice touch and something I can’t ever recall seeing done before. Overall, a very enjoyable night of professional wrestling from AEW.

Grade: B+
