Private Party Didn’t Know Salary Contracts Were A Thing While Under AEW Tiered Deals

Private Party have truly grown up in front of the eyes of the fans over the last five years.

AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party were recent guests on Talk Is Jericho following their big title win. While talking about their early days in the company, Isiah Kassidy revealed they didn’t know there was a bigger contract than the tiered deals they were initially offered that paid them $1000 per match.

Kassidy: I didn’t even know there was a bigger contract. I thought that was the biggest contract. I thought that was how all contracts were made. It was very new to us. Fast forward to Fyter Fest, we had this three-way with us, SCU, and Best Friends. We killed it, we go to the back and the first thing we see is the Young Bucks and Tony. ’We want to offer you a salary contract.’

Quen: I had no idea what that was.

Kassidy: I didn’t know what that was either.

Quen: I’m sitting here confused. ‘Okay.’ I never made money in wrestling. To hear salary I’m just like, ‘Okay, I guess that’s cool.’

The difference between tier and salary contracts

Jericho: At the time, you’re probably getting, I’m going to guess $1000 a match.

Quen: That was it.

Jericho: That’s great money from the indies, and you get flown in and you get a hotel.

Kassidy: I’m rich. I’m getting $1000 from wrestling, that’s cool.

Jericho: They offer you your first salary contract.

Kassidy: First salary contract. I was so grateful, I thanked the Bucks, I thanked Tony Khan. I called my mom. ‘Quit your job. We made it.’

Quen: I called my mom and asked her, ‘What does this mean?’ ‘Why are you asking me this?’ ‘This is what they offered us.’ Next thing I know, I hear her crying. ‘This must be a big deal.’ [H/T: Fightful]
