Roderick Strong is going to AEW Full Gear, as he has earned his spot in a match against MJF.
MJF previously named his terms for a match at the show, as he said he would face either Adam Cole or Roderick Strong. He stated that whoever won three consecutive matches first would earn the right to face him. The competition came down to the November 13 episode of AEW Dynamite, as Cole and Strong won two matches each heading into the show.
On Wednesday, Strong defeated Lance Archer in a Falls Count Anywhere match. In doing so, he earned a spot in the match against MJF at AEW Full Gear.
AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita then attacked Strong from behind. Cole made the save and kickstarted their match. They battled it out in a thrilling bout, and in the end, Takeshita hit Cole with MJF’s Dynamite Diamond Ring, which was hidden under the ring, to clinch the win. The broadcast team confirmed that this meant that Strong would face MJF at AEW Full Gear, and Cole would not be part of the match.
Had Cole won his match against Takeshita, he would have faced MJF and Strong in a three-way match at AEW Full Gear.
Cole has been targeting MJF since his return at AEW WrestleDream. MJF previously took Cole out at AEW Double or Nothing.
