The Undertaker Explains Why Cody Rhodes Losing At WrestleMania 39 Was ‘The Greatest Decision Ever’

The Undertaker weighs in on Cody Rhodes‘ loss on “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

At WWE WrestleMania 39, Roman Reigns retained his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event, leaving his challenger Cody Rhodes and many fans stunned. While some claim WWE made the right call that night, others believe the outcome should have swung the other way, with Rhodes dethroning “The Head of the Table.”

On the Six Feet Under podcast, WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker revealed himself to be in the former line of thinking.

“I mean, Roman was well on his way before Cody even got there. I mean, he already had a tremendous title run,” Undertaker said (H/T to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription). “So I don’t know that [the title] means as much without Roman. I mean, Roman’s top of the food chain … [It was] the greatest decision I think ever.”

Despite losing at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles, Rhodes eventually earned his way back to a title shot by winning the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble and later declaring himself as Reigns’ opponent for WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia. With some help from the likes of Jey Uso, John Cena, Seth Rollins, and ironically, The Undertaker, Rhodes reached victory at WrestleMania 40, simultaneously ending the historic title run of Roman Reigns.

Since capturing the Undisputed WWE Championship, Rhodes has successfully defended it against the likes of AJ Styles, Logan Paul, Kevin Owens, and Solo Sikoa.
