Malakai Black Says He’s Not Injured, Retiring, Or Leaving AEW

Malakai Black has made it clear that he is not leaving AEW or retiring from wrestling.

The former NXT Champion fuelled speculation about his AEW career after his match with Adam Cole on AEW Dynamite this week. He wrestled in his first singles match since May, losing to Adam Cole in 12 minutes.

However, a post-match hug with his opponent before leaving the ring left fans wondering about Malakai Black’s future. Luckily, Black has swooped in to clear all that up. The Dutch star took to his Instagram story to explain that he is not injured, retiring or leaving.

He revealed he hadn’t been injured for the past three years, and has been fine for ages. Malakai Black added that if he does retire, he’ll tell the fans, and not during an Adam Cole promo cryptically.

Malakai Black clears the air

“I’m not injured nor am I retiring or am I leaving. I feel this happens every match I have, and I don’t understand how many times you’re going to say these things and then them not happening and people are still going to fall for that.” Malakai Black said to fans on his Instagram story.

“I haven’t been injured in more than three years. And I’m referring to my back injury of course, and I only posted about that after it was already done. And if you would have read the post, you would have seen that and not read what other people have written about it.

“I’m fine, I’ve been fine for the longest time. I would really appreciate it if that stuff stops, man. If I’m going to retire, you’re going to hear it from me and not after Adam just cuts a promo just as a thank you for the match. Because that’s all it was. So, thank you.”

Brody King also had a fantastic response to the speculation about Black’s future:

So… when do we get to see the Ri-cat-chet vs. Pawspreay video?
