Meiko Satomura looks to finish her career next year.
Recently, Meiko Satomura announced her plans to retire in April 2025, 30 years after making her professional wrestling debut against Sonoko Kato in GAEA Japan.
Earlier today, Satomura, a former WWE NXT UK Women’s Champion, confirmed the exact date and location of her retirement match.
As seen on Instagram, Satomura will wrap up her in-ring career under the banner of Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling, the promotion she co-founded back in 2005. Though her opponent has yet to be revealed, Satomura noted that her final match will emanate from Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall on Tuesday, April 29.
“Retirement date has been set,” Satomura wrote (via Instagram translations). “I wonder how many more games. I’ll watch for everyone I cheered on and met. I will push through Meiko Satomura until the end.”
Most recently, Satomura battled Takumi Iroha to a time limit draw at Marvelous on October 27. Prior to that, she wrestled a handful of matches for the likes of TJPW, Sendai Girls, and Marvelous.
In July 2024, Satomura, who is still signed to WWE, wrestled on a trio of live events in Japan, one of which saw her challenge Bayley, albeit unsuccessfully, for the WWE Women’s Championship. On this tour, she also teamed with Bayley alongside Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. Satomura’s last televised WWE match took place on WWE NXT in March 2023. There, NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez successfully defended her title against Satomura.
