Seth Rollins: I’m Fighting Against Time, I Can’t Do What I Did When I Was 21 Anymore

WWE star Seth Rollins has dealt with injuries throughout 2024, and he has only wrestled a handful of matches since April. He recently opened up about trying to keep his body together.

Speaking on The Pivot Podcast, Seth Rollins was asked to comment on the hardest parts of his job. He answered by emphasizing that it was trying to keep his body together.

“I’m 37, 38 maybe? I’m 38 right now, I’ll be 39 next year,” Seth Rollins said. “At my age, 21 years I’ve been doing this, [it’s] my body, it’s trying to keep my body together. Like I said, the schedule has diminished quite a bit, which is good for me, but yeah. There’s a couple things at my juncture. I’ve got a lot of equity with our audience, so they appreciate what I do and what I’ve done, so that makes my life a little easier than a younger guy coming up, trying to make a name for himself. But trying to stay healthy as much as I can to contribute.

“Then trying to keep it fresh, give them something new all the time instead of doing, you can get into the same thing over and over and over, but it gets boring after a while, and as a performer, it’s not terribly fulfilling. You want to do something that feels good and fresh and exciting and gets your brain going in different ways. So those are the big ones for me now. 21 years and 2000 plus matches, so I’ve got the wrestling part of it, I can do. I can do all that stuff. But I’m fighting against time. I can’t do what I did when I was 21 no more. My body don’t do those things.”

Seth Rollins: I’ll Make It Hard To Take My Spot

Rollins continued by saying that he was still fairly athletic, but he did not recover as fast. He reiterated that he couldn’t wrestle the same way that he did when he was younger. Rollins also made it clear that he knows younger talent are fighting for his spot, but he’ll make it hard for them to do that. He noted that, in doing so, he would make them better.

“I’m still fairly athletic for my age, but I don’t recover nearly as fast, I’ll tell you that,” Seth Rollins said. “When I hit 35, that was it for me. I was like, wow. 35 was the one where I turned around and I was like, okay, I get it. I understand, it finally all caught up to me. I can’t just throw caution to the wind and go headfirst in there anymore. So those are the big ones for me.

“When you got young guys and young girls coming up underneath you, they want to take your spot, and they should. I want you to come in here and outwork me. I want you to come in and take my spot, I want you to fight for it. But I’m gonna fight back. I’m not done, I’m gonna try everything I can. I’m gonna make it hard for you because that’s gonna make you better on the back end.
